Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most difficult but favored poker games. It’s a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites play from all levels of players. This is the main reason why a once irrelevant game, has expanded in popularity so rapidly.

Omaha 8 or better begins just like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to each player. A sequence of wagering ensues where gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. 3 cards are given out, this is called the flop. A further sequence of betting happens. After all the players have either called or dropped out, a further card is revealed on the turn. a further round of betting follows and then the river card is flipped. The players must attempt to make the best high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where a number of entrants often get confused. Contrasted to Hold’em, in which the board can make up every player’s hand, in Omaha hi-low the player must use exactly three cards on the board, and exactly 2 cards from their hand. Not a single card more, no less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot might be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is just how it sounds. It’s the strongest possible hand out of every player’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical notion in just about every poker game.

The low hand is more difficult, but really opens up the action. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that can be put together, with the worst being A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no lower hand presented, the higher hand wins the whole pot.

It may seem difficult at first, after a couple of rounds you will be agile enough to get the fundamental subtleties of the game easily enough. Seeing as you have individuals betting for the low and betting for the high, and seeing as so many cards are in play, Omaha hi lo offers an exciting range of wagering choices and seeing that you have numerous players trying for the high hand, as well as a few shooting for the low. If you love a game with a plethora of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to play Omaha 8 or better.
